I recently opened up a forum where guests can post. I also turned on moderation approval. Thank God I did.

In a 24 hour period I had multiople spams, but none got through, because I had moderation turned on.

The newest version of IPB has CAPTCHA for guest, unfortunately my version (2.1.7) does not.

Would this work to keep spammers from posting with guests turned on? in my forums?

Yes, You can specify to show a captcha and use a plugin file to find out if its a guest or not
