Hi

Does FWS work on a per domain licence? if so would this work on sub domains?

I have 3 forums running on the same domain but on sub domains.. would 1 instance of fws protect these forums?

I really would like a answer to this but i believe it's no, but let's wait for support to answer.

The software is tied to the domain name and will not work on subdomains. However, we are selling "additional licenses" at $20 so you can license any other domains without purchasing a full license.

Oh I see..... lol, I bought it for my main domain www.discusdippy.com (OOPS! got so excited i didn't think straight)

my 2 forums are in folders on discusdippy.com

1) is http://forums.discusdippy.com (this has cSEO and adsense module running and licensed to http://forums.discusdippy)

2) is a phpbb3 free forum i won't worry about for now

I guess i need to purchase another license then...... (how do I can't find link?!)

just 1 question do i have to reinstall FWS to my subdomain folder? or will the new key replace the old key and work on both domains?

regards Gary

We will change your license for free, as we have plans of supporting subdomains shortly anyways. Give admin time to get on, and see this thread though, to do it smile.gif

Unfortunately if this is licensed by domain, then there is little point in it. I run my own server. On it I have several sites - mostly sub-domains of my site, but also a few others. Not only that but for my own site I have a domain per product going to the very same site (try webis.net, pocketinformant.com, flexmail.mobi and so on).

So for one thing just to protect my ONE site I'd have to buy about 15 licenses. That's unacceptable right there. Second, I'd need to protect all the other sites I have since what's the point of a firewall if you leave your server open through other sites.

There needs to be a single server option or this is dead in the water for many people.

We plan on offering a single server license, and subdomains will also be free once we make the change.

Yeah, we are going to support subdomains for free, after some consideration.

Additional domains are only $20 each, and get a full copy of the software.

as alex says, What would happen if a person comes in from a parked domain?

Example; Domain1.com is the main domain but also have domain2.com and domain3.com as parked domains.

What happens if someone comes in on domain2.com? will the software throw an error or simply not work?

to be honest I would be willing to pay a chunk for a server licence as I have lots of parked domains on my main domain.

I need to know this before i enable my software

The software simply wouldn't function, no error would be thrown and whatever script you are attaching to would still work. smile.gif

We are considering full server licenses (unlimited domains based on IP address, probably) but need to work out the kinks in our existing systems first.

OK - good to know. I look forward to hearing about it. I'll keep checking in. I am also looking at snort, but I don't think that helps with PHP app based intrusions and I'd like to have that as well.

They will be supported with beta 3 (the software requires an update to support them).

Yea I have the same problem. I have a lot of subdomains and it would make the cost unreasonable for my main site. A single server license would be best across an IP range (each of my sites has its own IP address and as my main site grows it will be on several servers that may be on separate IP addresses).

If they're just subdomains, the software already allows/supports that.
